Bellesoma

Giving shape to a proprietary surgical method.

The Challenge:

Give a breakthrough surgical method a name of its own.

Dr. Gary Horndeski developed a breast surgery method designed to reshape and lift using a patient’s own tissue while avoiding the vertical incisions associated with traditional techniques. The naming challenge was to give this specialized approach an identity that could communicate beyond its technical details.

The name needed to convey the aesthetic aspiration behind the procedure, inspire confidence, and distinguish the method in a field crowded with clinical terminology and promises of transformation.

The "Ah-ha" Moment:

The beauty was in naming the outcome.

Tungsten created Bellesoma, combining “belle,” evoking beauty, with “soma,” the Greek word for body. The resulting name brings together an approachable aesthetic sensibility and a subtle connection to medical science.

Its soft, flowing sound gives Bellesoma an elegance suited to a personal patient decision. Its broader meaning also allows the brand to encompass related procedures, rather than tying it to a single surgical application.

Bellesoma gives patients a memorable name to research, discuss, and ask for—and gives the physician’s distinctive method an identity of its own.

The Results: A signature name across a family of procedures.

Today, Dr. Horndeski’s practice presents the Bellesoma Method across breast lift, breast reduction, and breast explant procedures. The practice reports serving patients from across the United States and other continents.

The brand provides a consistent identity for communicating the method and its applications. It illustrates how a thoughtfully developed name can connect a complex medical innovation with the human aspiration behind it.
